In my book Silly Leo, Leo the harbor seal pup finds a postcard of the Golden Gate Bridge. This begins his journey to make it to San Francisco! I thought, hmm... how fun would it be to have a postcard just like Leo?!? This makes for the perfect extension activity to the book. You can use the blank postcards as well for an extension to any book! Ideas are listed below.

Postcard Book Extension Ideas

For Silly Leo...

1. Write to someone what your dreams are for the future.
2. Write to Leo. What do you want to know now that he made it to San Francisco?
3. Pretend to be Leo sending the postcard back to the harbor seals in the arctic. What does he want to tell them?

For any book...

1. Using the blank postcard, draw a picture of your favorite scene from the book
2. Write to the main character. What questions do you have for them?
3. Send the postcard to someone telling them about the book you just read
4. Write to the author and tell them what you loved about their book
